Making Candy

Welcome to the Ferrara family! We are happy to share with the world a recipe that comes down 4 generations in the Ferrara family line, starting with Great Grandpa Joe. We are very excited to bring high quality, natural fudge to the Boise area.

Having shared fudge with close friends and family for years, it is time to extend our 'family'! We realized that maybe we had something special on our hands, when dear friends were offering to pay for another batch of fudge. We are looking forward to sharing good times and great dessert as our extended family grows. Nothing is better than sharing a relaxing evening with friends and family, nibbling on rich creamy fudge!

My Story

I will admit, it did take me a few tries to get the recipe just right. Grandma always made it look so easy! Once I decided to get it right, there was no stopping me! I remember laughing in the kitchen with my mom; when sugar boils, it really bubbles up. My first lesson in fudge was to use a larger pot than I thought was needed. Once the traditional recipe was just right, the fun could begin. I wanted to experiment with all of my favorite flavors. Cherry was first. Then came the almond and coconut. What about cinnamon with just a touch of hot chili? Perfect!

I wasn't always in the kitchen. Usually I was behind the sewing machine. Since I was 13 I started making my own clothes. "Why don't you make wedding dresses and sell them?" my mom asked me one day. Hmmm, good idea. A year later, Ferrara Couture was born. Designing the most important dress a woman will ever wear was very fulfilling. I will never stop sewing, or designing wedding gowns, so long as I can help it. Wedding gowns are great but fudge is a product I can really get excited about. Not everyone has to have a wedding gown, but you gotta eat…FUDGE!
